Job Description

Job Opportunity: Community Mental Health Nurse for Older Adults

We are looking for a passionate and innovative nurse to join our Older Adults Community Mental Health Team (CMHTOA), located at Huts 3 & 4 in Falkirk Community Hospital. In this role, you’ll focus on supporting individuals primarily aged 65 and above who live independently in the community.

What You Will Do

As a key member of the team, your main tasks will include conducting in-depth mental health evaluations and follow-ups. You’ll draw on proven assessment methods and apply research-backed treatments to help improve daily life for those facing mental health challenges. Beyond direct care, you’ll play a part in raising awareness about mental well-being and encouraging positive habits across the local area.

You will handle your own group of community-based clients with mental health concerns, while also offering guidance and expertise to our registered Community Psychiatric Nurses (CPNs) and Clinical Support Workers (CSWs).

This position involves collaborating across the Falkirk Health and Social Care Partnership to deliver a well-rounded, team-based mental health service. You’ll work hand-in-hand with various professionals and partner organizations to ensure the best support for patients and their families.

Who We are Looking For

We want someone energetic and proactive who thrives in a community-focused environment. You must have hands-on experience working with older adults, and it’s a big plus if you’ve previously operated in a community mental health context.

Being able to get around the service area is crucial, so you’ll need the flexibility and means to travel as needed.
Important Requirements

The successful applicant must join the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme. For details, visit www.disclosurescotland.co.uk.

Starting April 1, 2026, our standard full-time hours under Agenda for Change will drop from 37 to 36 per week, with part-time roles adjusted accordingly. Don’t worry—your hourly pay will rise to keep your overall earnings the same.
