About the Role

We are seeking a Consultant in General Adult Psychiatry to join our Community Mental Health Team (CMHT) based at the Parkway Centre in Havant. You will provide consultant leadership for adults living in the Havant and Waterlooville areas, working closely with a skilled multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, recovery-focused mental health care.

This role is ideal for a consultant who values continuity of care, integrated working, and clinical leadership, and who wants to make a tangible difference to people’s lives within a community setting.

You will have responsibility for shaping care pathways, supporting clinical decision-making, managing risk, and contributing to service development in a supportive and forward-thinking organisation.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Leadership and Patient Care

• Provide senior psychiatric leadership within the CMHT, delivering holistic and evidence-based care to adults with complex mental health needs.
• Lead assessments, treatment planning, and ongoing management using a recovery-orientated approach.
• Offer expert guidance on risk assessment and risk management, supporting safe and effective care delivery.
• Multidisciplinary and Service Development Work
• Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary colleagues to ensure coordinated, patient-centred care.
• Actively contribute to clinical governance, audit, and quality improvement activity, focusing on outcomes and patient experience.
• Support professional development within the team through supervision, mentoring, and shared learning.

Professional Standards

Maintain practice in line with General Medical Council (GMC) standards and professional codes of conduct.

Fulfil responsibilities under the Mental Health Act, including Section 12(2) approval.

Person Specification

Essential Qualifications

• Full registration with the General Medical Council
• MRCPsych or recognised equivalent
• Eligible for inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register, or within 6 months of CCT at interview
• Approved under Section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act 1983
