About the Department

Our Cardiac Cath Labs are a dynamic and energetic space where we handle procedures across four dedicated labs. The nursing team here is lively and supportive, always prioritizing patient care above everything else.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll start by picking up patients from the wards or our Cardiac Day Case Unit. You’ll help get them ready for their procedure, which might involve inserting a cannula or administering oral medications and antibiotics as needed.

Once in the lab, you’ll team up with colleagues to support the patient. You could be in a circulating role, handling tasks like completing necessary documentation, preparing and giving medications, unpacking sterile equipment, and keeping a close eye on the patient’s condition during the procedure. Alternatively, you’ll scrub in alongside the consultant, assisting directly with the intervention.

Training and Development

If you’re new to this environment, don’t worry—we’ll provide comprehensive training on scrubbing procedures, setting up equipment, and acting as the consultant’s assistant. It’s a hands-on learning experience that builds your expertise step by step.
