About the Role

We are seeking a Digital Marketing Officer to join the central Marketing Team within the University of Sussex’s Communications, Engagement and Advancement (CEA) division. This role plays a crucial part in supporting both undergraduate and postgraduate student recruitment through data-driven digital campaigns across paid, owned, and shared channels.

You will take a hands-on approach to creating and adapting digital content, coordinating campaign delivery with internal colleagues and external agencies, and monitoring performance to ensure activity is effective, on-brand, and delivers value for money.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver digital campaigns aligned with student recruitment goals.
  • Create engaging digital content for web, social media, email, and other platforms.
  • Monitor and evaluate campaign performance, using analytics tools and reports to identify improvements.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external agencies to ensure campaigns are delivered on time and on budget.
  • Support brand consistency, adhering to the University’s visual identity and messaging guidelines.
  • Applicants must comply with UK advertising and marketing regulations, including data protection laws.

About You

You are a proactive and organised individual with:

  • Experience supporting or delivering digital marketing campaigns
  • Strong writing and content creation skills, adaptable to different audiences and platforms
  • Confidence in analysing campaign data using tools such as Excel, analytics platforms, or third-party reports
  • Basic design/editing skills, including resizing images and creating simple digital assets
  • An understanding of brand and visual identity
  • Experience in higher education or similar sectors is desirable but not essential
  • You are comfortable managing multiple tasks simultaneously and thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
