About the Role
The University of Reading is seeking a motivated and research-focused Lecturer in Inflammation to join the Division of Biomedical Sciences. This is a permanent, full-time position offering the opportunity to contribute to world-class research, high-quality teaching, and student supervision in a dynamic academic environment.
You will work within a vibrant School of Biological Sciences, which conducts research across diverse areas including:
- Haemostasis and cardiovascular disease
- Cancer biology
- Endocrinology and developmental biology
- Neurobiology and microbiology
We particularly welcome applicants whose research aligns with key biomedical themes such as cancer, cardiovascular disease, infection, or neurobiology. You will play a central role in delivering research-led teaching and contribute to a supportive learning environment for undergraduate and postgraduate students.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead research projects in inflammation and related biomedical fields.
- Publish high-quality research in internationally recognized peer-reviewed journals.
- Teach and supervise students across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
- Contribute to curriculum development, assessment, and academic administration.
- Engage with interdisciplinary collaborations and public engagement activities.
- Support the School’s commitment to inclusivity, sustainability, and student success.
Candidate Profile
We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate:
- A PhD or DPhil in a relevant biomedical discipline.
- A strong track record of research excellence with publications in leading journals.
- Ability and enthusiasm to teach effectively and engage students.
- Commitment to developing a research agenda aligned with the Division’s priorities.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach to working with colleagues.
Interview Process
The interview will take place over two days:
- Day 1: Research presentation to the School and a Teaching & Learning roundtable with staff and students (pre-task provided in advance).
- Day 2: Formal interview with the selection panel.
- Applicants must submit a 1-page outline of proposed future research under the “Additional Document” section during application.
