The Role

Brighton and Sussex Medical School (BSMS) is seeking a Senior Curriculum Coordinator (Phase 1) to play a key role in supporting the delivery of the early years of its undergraduate medical programme.

Working as part of the BSMS Curriculum Support Team, you will be based primarily within the Phase 1 School Office on the University of Sussex campus. You will provide high-quality administrative and organisational support for teaching, assessment, and curriculum activity across Years 1 and 2 of the medical degree.

This is a varied and people-focused role, working closely with academic colleagues, fellow professional services staff, and clinical partners across NHS organisations. Occasional travel to BSMS buildings at the University of Brighton and other associated locations will be required.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Senior Curriculum Coordinator, you will contribute to the smooth running of a complex medical curriculum by:

  • Coordinating and administering teaching and assessment activity for Phase 1 of the MBBS programme
  • Organising and servicing a range of meetings, including preparing agendas, papers, and taking accurate minutes
  • Collecting, collating, and supporting the analysis of student feedback to inform curriculum improvement
  • Supporting student induction activities and helping new students transition successfully into medical school
  • Assisting with the recruitment, coordination, and administration of the Phase 1 Personal Tutor programme
  • Acting as a key point of contact for staff and students, ensuring queries are handled professionally and efficiently
  • Your work will support the delivery of medical education in line with standards set by the General Medical Council (GMC)

Visa and Right to Work Information

All work for the University must be undertaken in the UK.

This role may be eligible for Skilled Worker visa sponsorship, depending on salary and individual circumstances. The assigned SOC code is 4159 – Other administrative occupations, with a going rate of £41,700. Eligibility may depend on tradeable points or existing Skilled Worker permission issued before 4 April 2024.
