About the Role

Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced Band 6 AMHS Registered Practitioner to join its Core Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS). This is a permanent, full-time opportunity within a supportive and well-established service delivering specialist mental health care to children and young people up to the age of 18.

You will work as part of a strong, multidisciplinary team (MDT), supporting children, young people, and their families through assessment, formulation, and evidence-based interventions tailored to individual needs.

Our Multidisciplinary Team

You will collaborate closely with a diverse range of professionals, including:

  • Mental Health and Learning Disability Nurses
  • Occupational Therapists
  • Social Workers
  • Creative Therapists
  • Psychologists and Psychotherapists

This role is ideal for a registered practitioner who values collaborative working and understands the importance of supporting the wider system around the child, including families, carers, schools, and partner agencies.

What You’ll Be Doing

In this role, you will:

  • Carry out comprehensive mental health assessments for children, young people, and families
  • Develop clear clinical formulations to inform care planning and intervention
  • Deliver evidence-based, goal-focused therapeutic interventions
  • Provide individual, family, and group interventions (short- and longer-term as clinically indicated)
  • Complete high-quality clinical risk assessments, including self-harm assessments, ensuring the voice of the child is central to care planning
  • Act as Care Coordinator for a caseload of children and young people with complex and high-risk mental health needs
  • Work closely with partner services to ensure integrated, safe, and effective care
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and professional standards in line with NHS policy

Skills, Experience & Professional Background

Essential Experience

  • Significant experience delivering evidence-based mental health interventions within CAMHS, related children’s services, or adult mental health settings
  • Proven experience undertaking specialist self-harm assessments with children and young people
  • Strong background in care coordination, complex care planning, and clinical risk management

Desirable Experience

  • Experience providing clinical supervision to colleagues

Qualifications & Registration

Essential

A recognised professional qualification in health or social care, such as:

  • Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN)
  • Registered Learning Disability Nurse (RNLD)
  • Occupational Therapist (OT)
  • Mental Health Social Worker (MHSW)
  • Evidence of post-registration professional development
  • Current UK professional registration (e.g. NMC, HCPC, or Social Work England)

Desirable

  • Postgraduate training relevant to CAMHS
  • Additional specialist qualifications (e.g. CBT, DBT, AMHP, Family Therapy, Systemic Practice, Non-Medical Prescribing)
