This role sits within the Phase 1 School Office, based on the University of Sussex campus, and plays a vital part in the smooth delivery of Years 1 and 2 of the undergraduate medical degree programme.

You will work at the centre of curriculum administration, supporting teaching, assessment, and student engagement activities. The role involves close collaboration with academic staff, professional services colleagues across both partner universities, and clinical colleagues within NHS partner organisations.

What You Will Do

  • Coordinate and support the organisation and administration of the Phase 1 curriculum, teaching activities, and assessments.
  • Organise, service, and minute a range of meetings, acting as secretary where required.
  • Collect, collate, and support the administration of student feedback to inform curriculum enhancement.
  • Coordinate induction activities for new medical students, ensuring a positive and well-organised start to the programme.
  • Support the recruitment, administration, and ongoing operation of the Phase 1 Personal Tutor programme.
  • Contribute to a wide range of curriculum-related processes, working flexibly to meet changing priorities across the academic year.
  • Liaise effectively with academic, administrative, and clinical colleagues across BSMS, the Universities of Sussex and Brighton, and NHS partners.
  • Undertake occasional travel to BSMS locations at the University of Brighton and other School sites as required.

About You

You will be a confident and experienced administrator who thrives in a busy, varied environment. You will bring:

  • A high level of personal responsibility, initiative, and attention to detail.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise competing demands.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the confidence to work with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • A proactive, flexible approach, recognising that no two days will be the same.
  • Strong IT skills and confidence working with a range of digital systems and administrative tools.
  • The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a supportive, collaborative team.
  • This role would suit someone with a proven track record in senior administrative or coordination roles, ideally within higher education or a similarly complex organisation.
