About the Role

The University of Sussex is looking for a creative and data-aware Digital Marketing Officer to support undergraduate and postgraduate student recruitment.

Based within the central Marketing Team in the Communications, Engagement and Advancement (CEA) Division, you will help deliver evidence-led digital marketing campaigns across paid, owned and shared channels. Your work will directly support recruitment goals while ensuring digital activity remains engaging, on brand, and cost effective.

This is a practical, hands-on role where creativity and analysis go hand in hand. You will contribute to campaign planning, create and adapt digital content, coordinate delivery with colleagues and external suppliers, and review performance to continuously improve outcomes.

You will work closely with Marketing Managers and colleagues in CRM, analytics, web and social media, as well as with academic Schools and recruitment teams, within a collaborative and supportive environment.

What You Will Do

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the delivery of digital recruitment campaigns
  • Creating and adapting content for websites, email, paid media and social channels
  • Coordinating campaign activity with internal teams and external agencies
  • Monitoring and evaluating campaign performance using data and reporting tools
  • Ensuring digital outputs meet brand, accessibility and quality standards
  • Contributing ideas to improve reach, engagement and conversion

About You

You will already have experience supporting or delivering digital marketing activity and feel confident creating content for a range of digital platforms.

You will bring:

  • Strong written communication skills and the ability to tailor copy for different audiences
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Confidence working with campaign data using tools such as Excel, analytics platforms or agency reports
  • Basic digital design and editing skills, such as resizing images or creating simple assets
  • An understanding of branding and visual identity
  • Experience in higher education, public sector, or a similar environment is helpful but not essential.

This role may be eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker visa route, subject to eligibility:

  • SOC code: 3554 – Advertising and marketing associate professionals
  • Going rate: £41,700

Eligibility will depend on the salary offered, use of tradeable points, or whether the applicant holds an existing Skilled Worker visa issued before 22 July 2025.
