Role Overview
The University of Sussex is seeking an ambitious and creative Marketing Officer (Digital) to help deliver digital marketing campaigns that directly support recruitment of undergraduate and postgraduate students. You’ll be part of the central Marketing Team within Communications, Engagement and Advancement.
In this role, you’ll help plan, execute and review evidence-driven digital campaigns across paid, owned and shared channels. Your work will involve developing and adapting digital content, working with internal teams and external partners, and using performance insight to shape future activity.
You’ll enjoy a hands-on role combining creativity with data insights, producing high-quality digital content that strengthens the University’s brand and student engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Support planning and delivery of digital marketing campaigns aligned with recruitment targets.
- Create and tailor content for websites, social media, email and advertising.
- Coordinate campaign activity with wider marketing functions and external agencies.
- Use analytics and reporting tools to measure campaign performance and recommend improvements.
- Ensure all activity reflects brand guidelines and delivers value for money.
- Work collaboratively with teams including CRM, web, social media and academic Schools.
Who You Are
You should bring:
- Experience working on digital marketing campaigns and content creation.
- Excellent writing skills with the ability to tailor content for different audiences and platforms.
- Confidence working with data, using tools such as Excel and analytics dashboards.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Basic digital design skills, including image resizing and simple asset creation.
- An understanding of brand consistency and visual identity.
- Previous experience in higher education or a similar sector is desirable, but not essential.

You’ll be joining Communications, Engagement and Advancement, a strategic division responsible for the University’s external and internal engagement efforts — including recruitment, brand development and stakeholder communications.
