Job Description
Role overview
This role sits at the heart of Doncaster & Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust’s digital transformation programme. As a Lead Digital Practitioner, you will play a key role in delivering the Trust’s Electronic Patient Record (EPR) and wider digitisation of health records, helping clinical teams move confidently towards paperless, safer, and more efficient ways of working.
Working closely with the Chief Nursing Information Officer (CNIO), you will support clinicians and services to design, adopt, and embed digital systems that genuinely improve patient safety, care quality, and staff experience. You do not need prior digital-specialist experience to apply; what matters most is your clinical credibility, curiosity, and ability to support change in busy healthcare environments. Full role-specific training will be provided.
Key responsibilities
- Support the planning, delivery, and monitoring of digital transformation workstreams linked to the EPR programme.
- Work alongside clinical teams to redesign workflows, embed new digital processes, and support safer, more effective care delivery.
- Act as a bridge between clinical services, ICT teams, and system suppliers to ensure digital solutions meet real clinical needs.
- Contribute to the delivery of mobile and point-of-care technologies across inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Champion patient safety, clinical quality, and user experience throughout all digital initiatives.
- Support paperless implementations by helping teams transition away from legacy systems and manual records.
- Provide day-to-day leadership and line management within the Digital Practitioners team.
- Maintain clear communication with staff, patients, and stakeholders, adapting your approach to different audiences.
Working environment
You will be primarily based at the Doncaster site, with flexibility to work across Trust locations as required. The role may involve adjustments to working hours or base location in response to service needs. Flexible working arrangements will be considered where possible.
