Job Description

Join Our Dynamic Midwifery Team at NHS Forth Valley

Are you a passionate and dedicated midwife looking for a rewarding role where you can truly make a difference? We’re expanding our Women & Children’s Directorate and inviting motivated professionals to join us as autonomous practitioners. You’ll play a key role in advancing midwifery standards while delivering compassionate, family-centred care across Forth Valley.

At NHS Forth Valley, we support women and families throughout their entire maternity journey. Our integrated team model means you’ll work across community settings, midwifery-led units, and hospital areas. We’re proudly progressing towards the goals of Scotland’s Best Start initiative, which focuses on personalised, high-quality maternity and neonatal care.

What We Offer

  • Flexible Working Patterns: Choose from shifts of 7.5, 10.5, or 12 hours to suit your lifestyle.
  • Modern Facilities: Based primarily at our contemporary hospital in a peaceful woodland setting, with additional community hubs bringing care closer to families’ homes.
  • Supportive Birth Environments: Our popular alongside midwifery unit features two birthing pools. Labour ward rooms are designed for comfort, with portable cardiotocography (CTG) monitoring, aromatherapy options, and a variety of birthing aids.
  • A Welcoming Team: We’re a close-knit, supportive group who value work-life balance, personal challenges, and strong collaboration with multidisciplinary colleagues.

We handle around 3,000 births each year across a diverse area blending stunning rural landscapes and vibrant urban communities. Conveniently located between Glasgow and Edinburgh, with excellent transport connections, Forth Valley offers the best of both worlds for living and working.

Our expanded directorate emphasises inclusive, adaptable services for women, children, and young people – from home visits to community care and hospital support. We’re committed to seamless, holistic care that puts patients first, and we’re looking for candidates who share this vision: resilient, enthusiastic professionals eager to innovate and improve our services.
