Somerset NHS Foundation Trust is pleased to offer an exciting opportunity for a Consultant Geriatrician to join our expanding and forward-thinking Care of Older People (COOP) team at Yeovil District Hospital.
This role sits within a supportive, innovative, and inclusive department that values flexibility, individuality, and professional development. What You’ll Be Doing
As a Consultant Geriatrician, you will:
- Deliver specialist geriatric care across inpatient and outpatient settings
- Contribute to the acute and frailty take, including Front Door Frailty and 7-day working
Support and develop services such as:
- Ortho-Geriatrics
- Osteoporosis
- Parkinson’s and Movement Disorders
- Dementia and Delirium
- Take part in clinical governance, audit, quality improvement, and service redesign
- Teach, supervise, and mentor junior doctors and multidisciplinary colleagues
- Participate in job planning, appraisal, mandatory training, and departmental leadership

Person Specification
Essential Qualifications
- Full GMC registration with a licence to practise
- Entry on the GMC Specialist Register for Geriatric Medicine and General Internal Medicine
(or within 6 months of CCT at the time of interview)
Essential Experience and Skills
- Broad experience managing complex older patients across acute and community settings
- Experience in teaching, supervision, and multidisciplinary working
- Strong communication, leadership, and organisational skills
