About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Junior Sister to join the team on Ward 10 at Castle Hill Hospital. Ward 10 is a 21-bed surgical ward caring for male patients undergoing colorectal procedures. The ward also houses a 4-bed High Observation Bay for post-operative care following major surgery.

This role offers a unique opportunity to develop clinical expertise, leadership, and management skills while being supported by an experienced senior team. The Trust has strong links with the University of Hull and encourages ongoing professional development.

As a Junior Sister, you will be a dynamic, compassionate, and experienced registered nurse, with strong interpersonal skills and a passion for high-quality surgical care. You will contribute to service improvement and help maintain the ward’s reputation for excellent patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical, professional, and managerial leadership in partnership with the Senior Sister
  • Deputise for the Senior Sister when required
  • Lead clinical nursing practice and assure the highest standards of patient care
  • Manage clinical and non-clinical risks and report appropriately
  • Handle queries and complaints from patients, families, and staff with professionalism
  • Support and facilitate the learning of junior team members
  • Participate in audits, quality improvement, and research initiatives

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • Registered Nurse with up-to-date NMC registration (Check registration)
  • Experience in a busy surgical ward
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in quality audits and evidence-based practice

Desirable:

  • Degree in Nursing
  • Teaching or assessing experience
