Overview of the Role
Providence Medical Group–Walla Walla is seeking a dedicated Nocturnist Physician to join its well-established and highly collaborative hospitalist team. This position offers the opportunity to provide high-quality inpatient and ICU-level care while working alongside experienced physicians, nurses, therapists, and support staff at St. Mary Medical Center.
This is an excellent role for physicians who value clinical autonomy, teamwork, and predictable scheduling. With a structured nocturnist rotation and no on-call responsibilities, you can maintain a strong work–life balance while practicing meaningful medicine in a close-knit community setting.
Clinical Responsibilities
- Provide overnight inpatient hospitalist care
- Manage patients in an Open ICU environment
- Independently manage ventilated and critically ill patients
- Collaborate with Tele-Critical Care services as needed
- Work closely with multidisciplinary clinical teams
- Ensure safe, compassionate, and evidence-based patient care
- Physicians must have recent ventilator management experience (within the past two years) and be comfortable leading ICU care overnight.
Schedule & Work Structure
- 168 total night shifts annually
- Typical rotation: 14 nights on / 14 nights off
- Schedule flexibility may be available
- No call responsibilities
Candidate Qualifications
Required:
- Board-eligible or board-certified in Internal Medicine
- Comfortable managing ICU patients and mechanical ventilation
- Experience in inpatient hospital medicine
- Authorization to work in the U.S. (visa sponsorship available)
Preferred:
- Prior experience in a community hospital
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- New graduates with substantial ICU exposure during residency are encouraged to apply

Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive annual compensation: $295,021 – $377,352
