About the Role

GE Aerospace is seeking an experienced Senior Facilities Manager to lead the maintenance and facilities team at our Bishops Cleeve campus. Spanning 55 acres, this site includes corporate offices, R&D analytical laboratories, and multiple manufacturing facilities.

This is a senior leadership role in a fast-paced, complex environment, responsible for delivering multiple service lines, managing multi-million-pound CAPEX and OPEX budgets, and driving operational excellence across the site.

You will combine strategic oversight with day-to-day operational management, ensuring the campus operates safely, efficiently, and sustainably.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Operations Management

  • Lead, coach, and manage the site maintenance and infrastructure team.
  • Ensure critical production equipment and manufacturing systems are maintained and optimally operational.
  • Develop lifecycle planning strategies and oversee CAPEX investment.
  • Mentor and motivate your team, fostering collaboration and accountability.

Facilities Management

  • Deliver high-quality soft services, including cleaning, waste management, catering, vending, landscaping, and car parking.
  • Oversee hard services, managing subcontractor performance, compliance, and asset control.
  • Collaborate with sourcing teams to manage external suppliers safely and efficiently.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety (EHS) regulations, including legionella and asbestos management – Health & Safety Executive guidance

Compliance, Safety & Risk Management

  • Maintain a Highly Protected Risk (HPR) status facility.
  • Lead crisis management, emergency planning, and business continuity exercises – Gov.uk Emergency Planning
  • Ensure all safety documentation, procedures, and practices meet regulatory standards.

Project & Strategic Leadership

  • Lead projects in accordance with Construction Design and Management (CDM) Regulations 2015 – CDM Regulations guidance
  • Develop short- and long-term campus infrastructure strategies covering physical security, sustainability, hybrid working, lab growth, and production expansion.
  • Oversee budgets, prepare monthly reports, and ensure operational targets are met.

Other Duties

  • Provide occasional on-call support to minimize business disruption.
  • Promote continuous improvement across facilities and operations.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders and regulatory authorities as required.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

  • Bachelor’s degree, diploma, or equivalent in a relevant field.
  • Significant experience in facilities management, operations, or complex estate management.
  • Knowledge of statutory requirements including legionella, asbestos, and other EHS regulations.
  • Strong leadership, team management, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in project management and implementing process improvements.
  • Proven ability to manage budgets and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated change management experience.
  • Mentoring, coaching, and developing teams.
  • Experience in a multi-functional organization with R&D and manufacturing facilities.
