University Health Physicians (UHP), in partnership with the University of Missouri–Kansas City (UMKC) School of Medicine, is seeking a full-time Hematology/Oncology physician to join our academic clinical faculty. This role offers the opportunity to practice comprehensive cancer care while contributing meaningfully to medical education, clinical research, and service to an underserved community.

About the Academic Health System
UHP serves as the faculty practice for UMKC School of Medicine and is the primary physician group for University Health Truman Medical Center, widely known as Kansas City’s Essential Hospital. As a 547-bed, not-for-profit academic medical center, University Health provides high-quality, compassionate care to patients throughout Jackson County and the Kansas City region.
The organization gained national recognition for leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic, delivering care and testing aligned with guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
Position Overview
As a clinical faculty member in the Section of Hematology/Oncology, you will:
- Provide inpatient and outpatient hematology and medical oncology care
- Teach and mentor medical students and residents
- Participate in clinical research and scholarly activity
- Collaborate within a multidisciplinary academic environment
- Support evidence-based oncology care consistent with national standards from the
National Cancer Institute (NCI) - This role is ideal for physicians who value the integration of clinical excellence, education, and research.
Qualifications
- Board-Certified or Board-Eligible in Hematology and Medical Oncology through the
American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) - Strong commitment to teaching, patient care, and academic collaboration
- Ability to thrive in a diverse, urban academic medical center
Academic Appointment & Compensation
- Faculty appointment through UMKC School of Medicine
- Salary and academic rank commensurate with training, experience, and accomplishments
- Practice aligned with federal quality and patient safety initiatives supported by the
Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS)
