Your Clinical Responsibilities

  • Deliver safe, evidence‑based, and patient‑centred general medical services
  • Manage a varied caseload, including acute presentations, long‑term conditions, and preventative care
  • Participate in clinical governance, audit, and quality improvement activities
  • Contribute to multidisciplinary working across the practice and cluster
  • Support and supervise learners, including GP registrars and medical students (where appropriate)
  • Develop and lead special interests aligned with service and personal development goals

Our Team

You will be supported by a highly skilled and multidisciplinary workforce, including:

  • 3 GP Partners and 2 Salaried GPs
  • GP Registrars (GPSTs) and medical students
  • Practice nurses and HCAs delivering chronic disease clinics
  • Independent Prescribing Clinical Pharmacist
  • Dedicated prescribing team managing patient queries and repeat medications
  • GP Support Officers
  • Named mentor for all salaried GPs
  • One of our GP Partners also serves as Chair of the Neighbourhood Care Network (NCN), providing valuable leadership and strategic insight.

Services We Provide

We offer a comprehensive range of enhanced and specialist services, including:

  • Joint injections
  • Shared care prescribing
  • DOAC initiation and monitoring
  • Warfarin monitoring
  • Insulin and injectable therapy initiation and follow‑up
  • Drug and alcohol misuse services

About the Practice

Cwm Calon is a friendly training practice serving approximately 5,500 patients in the former mining community of Abertillery. Led by a young, forward‑thinking partnership team, we are committed to continuity of care, innovation, and staff wellbeing.

Following the recent award of the Aberbeeg Medical Practice contract, we are expanding our services across two sites and are looking to grow a strong, stable GP workforce to support our patients now and into the future.

Essential Requirements

  • MBChB or MBBS
  • MRCGP with Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT)

Desirable

  • Experience working in UK general practice
  • Interest in service development, teaching, or clinical leadership
