Job Description

Role Overview

Lagan’s Foundation is seeking a compassionate, skilled and creative Children’s Play and Health Care Worker to support children with a range of complex health and developmental needs. This is a role where care meets play—where your creativity, clinical ability and emotional intuition create safe, joyful and meaningful experiences for children in their homes, communities and during school transport.

You will work independently while being supported by a close, values-driven team. We are looking for someone experienced in paediatric care, confident with clinical tasks, and passionate about using play as a therapeutic tool. If you thrive on building trust, encouraging development and making a genuine difference in a child’s life, we would love to hear from you.

What You Will Do

As part of our specialist care team, you will:

  • Play-Based Support
  • Use play, imagination and child-led activities to promote development, emotional wellbeing and confidence.
  • Create meaningful moments—supporting children to explore, communicate and feel secure.

Healthcare Delivery

Provide high-quality care tailored to each child’s needs, including:

  • Tracheostomy care
  • Gastrostomy/PEG feeding
  • Epilepsy management
  • Oxygen therapy
  • Personal care where required
  • Follow safe clinical practice in line with UK healthcare guidance.

Family & Team Collaboration

  • Build strong, respectful relationships with families.
  • Record care notes accurately and communicate effectively with colleagues.
  • Support and guide Band 1 carers where appropriate.
  • Professional Development
  • Attend supervision, clinical refreshers and core training.
  • Contribute to a positive team environment focused on child-centred care and emotional safety.
