About Stowhealth
Stowhealth is a forward-thinking, multidisciplinary primary care practice based in Stowmarket, Suffolk. We care for approximately 23,000 patients and are known for innovative service delivery, including online consultations via AskmyGP
Our team includes doctors, advanced nurse practitioners, practice nurses, physician associates, care navigators, receptionists, and admin staff who together deliver efficient, patient-focused care. We operate as part of the East Suffolk Primary Care Network (PCN).
Role Overview
We are seeking a part-time Dispensary Receptionist to join our team. You will be a patient-facing professional, supporting clinicians by managing prescriptions, handling patient queries, and maintaining accurate records. This role also involves covering for holiday and sick leave, as needed.
Working Pattern:
- Tuesday: 1:30pm – 6:30pm
- Wednesday: 11:00am – 6:30pm (30 min lunch)
- Friday: 11:00am – 6:30pm (30 min lunch)
Key Responsibilities
- Provide courteous and efficient service to patients, ensuring a positive experience.
- Handle prescription requests, collect charges, and maintain accuracy per NHS legislation
- Issue dosette boxes and manage patient medication safely.
- Maintain dispensary stock, ensuring correct pricing, reordering, and merchandising.
- Monitor and store medications in accordance with manufacturers’ instructions and MHRA guidance
- Maintain accurate electronic records, including Controlled Drug registers.
- Safely dispose of returned medications and adhere to NHS infection control policies
- Assist with training and contribute to personal and professional development.

Person Specification
Essential:
- GCSE in English and Maths (minimum grade 4).
- Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Check: DBS Checks
Desirable:
- Experience in dispensary or primary care settings.
- Familiarity with prescription software and patient record systems.
