Role Overview

As a MOD GP, your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering high-quality primary care across a wide patient population, including military personnel and civilians
  • Conducting routine and urgent consultations, covering paediatrics, ante-natal care, mental health, and chronic disease management
  • Performing occupational health assessments and mandatory medical examinations
  • Providing emergency care where required
  • Supervising infection control and communicable disease management in line with MOD protocols
  • Attending multi-disciplinary meetings and participating in continuous quality improvement initiatives
  • Representing the Senior Medical Officer (SMO) for Medical Practice issues when needed
  • This role may require you to work across both sites of the Middlesex Group Practice (Northolt and Northwood), ensuring continuity of care.

Essential Qualifications & Requirement

  • Entry on the GP Register
  • Experience in Occupational Health, particularly Military Occupational Health
  • Familiarity with Aviation Medicine
  • Knowledge and competence in MOD medical IT systems (training provided if required)

Desirable:

  • Musculoskeletal medicine experience
  • Armed Forces Medicine expertise (e.g., Aviation, Underwater, Diving Medicine)

Employment Details

  • Appointment Type: Fixed-Term Appointment (due to maternity cover) ending 31 October 2026
  • Probation: 6 months for new Civil Service entrants
  • Salary: Pro-rata for part-time job-share arrangements
  • Travel for interview is not reimbursed
  • Flexible or part-time arrangements may be considered depending on business needs
