About Us
The Department of Neuromuscular Diseases at UCL is recognised internationally for its excellence in clinical care and research across the full spectrum of spinal cord and neuromuscular disorders. Our world-leading teams in clinical, genetic, and molecular research work to uncover the causes and mechanisms of neuromuscular diseases, translating discoveries into new treatments for conditions such as motor neurone disease, Alzheimer’s disease, and inherited neuromuscular disorders.
Within the Department, the Centre for Neuromuscular Diseases (CNMD) integrates translational research with comprehensive NHS clinical services, including several nationally commissioned programmes for patients with rare and complex neuromuscular diseases.
About the Role
We are seeking a Database Manager / Trials Coordinator to support research into inherited neuropathies, with a primary focus on Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease (CMT). The postholder will manage existing databases and play a key role in coordinating the new TRANSFORM-CMT trial readiness programme, led by Professor Mary Reilly.
Working closely with the research nurse and wider inherited neuropathy research team, you will:
- Set up, manage, and maintain research databases.
- Support data entry, quality assurance, and troubleshooting.
- Prepare and submit ethics and R&D applications.
Coordinate UK trial-ready sites and manage regulatory documentation in line with national and international research governance standards.
- Support audits, inspections, and dissemination of study-related information.
- Organise training meetings, create training materials, and liaise with participating research centres across the UK.
- Coordinate patient visits to UCL and ensure data integrity and compliance.
This position is available from 1 November 2025 and is funded until 30 September 2026 in the first instance, with the potential for extension up to four years.
About You
You will hold a degree in neurosciences or a closely related discipline and have prior experience working as a clinical trials coordinator within adult neurology or a related research area.
Essential criteria include:
- Experience managing databases containing clinical or patient information.
- Proven ability in data entry, validation, and troubleshooting.
- Understanding of ethical and governance issues in clinical research.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational ability.
- An interest in inherited neuropathies and experience in multicentre clinical trial coordination are highly desirable.
Visa Information
This role meets eligibility requirements for both a Skilled Worker visa and a Global Talent visa under UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) legislation.
