The Faculty of Engineering comprises ten academic departments delivering research and teaching across a broad range of disciplines. About the Role
The Faculty of Engineering hosts multiple centres, laboratories, and institutes that require flexible administrative support. The Faculty Office is establishing a matrix-managed, shared services team to provide administrative assistance across these units.
We are seeking a Centres Manager to provide administrative oversight of all Centres/Institutes and associated projects. The role is central to the success of funded posts within the flexible team.
Key responsibilities include
Managing day-to-day administration and coordination across multiple Centres/Institutes.
Forming and leading teams around each Centre/Institute according to funding and operational needs.
Monitoring performance and ensuring service excellence across administrative support activities.
Supporting UCL’s equality and diversity policies and promoting a positive working environment.
Undertaking Fire Evacuation Marshal training and maintaining awareness of Fire and Health & Safety regulations.
The role requires excellent organisational, communication, and time-management skills, with the ability to work independently and manage multiple projects concurrently.
About You
The successful candidate will have:
A first degree or equivalent experience.
Proven experience in administration and management within a higher education institution or similarly complex environment.
Expertise in delivering high-quality administrative support services, including setting and monitoring service standards.
Experience in financial management, including budgeting, reporting, and analysis.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with senior academic and administrative staff as well as external stakeholders.
