Job Summary

UHSussex Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is inviting applications for a Consultant Medical Oncologist with a special interest in Breast, AO (Adult Oncology), and Lung cancers. The successful candidate will join the Sussex Cancer Centre Oncology Service, a county-wide team of oncologists delivering clinical and medical oncology care across five hospital sites: Brighton, Haywards Heath, Worthing, Hastings, and Eastbourne, with additional acute support in Chichester.

The appointee will work collaboratively within Breast, AO, and Lung site reference groups, consisting of multi-professional teams including clinical and medical oncologists, pharmacists, clinical nurse specialists, and cancer support workers.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver regular outpatient clinics and attend multidisciplinary meetings (MDMs).

Prescribe and oversee systemic anti-cancer therapy (SACT).

Provide clinical supervision to non-medical staff.

Participate in ward rounds and on-call duties (Royal Sussex County Hospital, currently 1:9 rota).

Engage in clinical governance and contribute to service development initiatives.

Participate in teaching and supervision of medical students, junior doctors, AHPs, and nursing staff.

Take an active role in research, audit, and support junior team members in their projects.
