About the role

The University of Bristol needs someone with real experience in this area. They are looking for a strategic Student Visa Compliance Manager. This person will lead the way on complying with UK Visas and Immigration regulations. The goal is to keep the university as a trusted student sponsor. At the same time, it helps protect and improve things for international students.

You would be part of the Education and Student Success division. In that spot, you become the go to expert on student visa stuff for the whole university. You handle risks. You make sure everyone follows the UKVI sponsor duties.

Now, about the main responsibilities in this job. You lead and oversee how the university handles UKVI sponsor duties. That covers reporting, monitoring, and keeping records. All of that has to be on point.

You act as the main expert and advisor on visa compliance. This is for the Authorising Officer and other senior folks. You help them out with those matters.

Key Responsibilities

Then there is preparing for UKVI audits. You manage those. You deal with tricky compliance cases too. Plus, you keep good relationships going with UKVI.

You stay on top of changes in UK immigration law. You guide how the institution responds to new rules as they come up.

You put together compliance reports and insights. These go to senior leadership and governance committees.

You represent the university in networks and working groups across the sector. You push for best practices in visa and immigration compliance.

You work to build awareness of compliance into university operations. You spot risks and help fix them before they become problems.

As for what you bring to the table. You have significant experience managing student visa compliance in UK higher education. That includes hands on use of the UKVI Sponsorship Management System, or SMS.

You understand UK immigration legislation and policy well. Especially the parts that apply to students and higher education places.

About You

Your analytical skills are excellent. Same for communication and interpersonal ones. You can explain complex regulatory info in a clear way. And you do it diplomatically.

You have proven ability to put policy changes into action. You lead training. You influence how the institution does things.

Your decision making and problem solving skills are strong. You work well on your own or with a team.

You have excellent IT and data management skills. Ideally, you know student record systems like SITS.

One note here. The appointment depends on passing a Home Office background security check. That is required for access to the Sponsor Management System.
