About the Role

We are looking for a creative and motivated alumni and supporter communications officer to join the University of Readings alumni and supporter engagement team. We are preparing to celebrate our centenary year in 2026. This is a full time fixed term opportunity for one year. You can play a key role in strengthening relationships with our global alumni community. That community has over 300000 graduates.

The alumni team is part of the communications and engagement department. That department sits within the Universitys external relations directorate. We work collaboratively across the University. We connect with academic schools departments and professional services. This keeps our alumni connected informed and engaged with University life.

As part of our centenary celebrations this role offers the chance to help deliver inspiring communications. Those communications celebrate our history. They also promote the exciting future of the University of Reading.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and deliver engaging alumni and supporter communications across a variety of channels. Put a particular focus on digital media.

Support the implementation of communications plans. Make sure they meet both internal and cross departmental objectives.

Research write and curate content. That content should reflect University priorities. It needs to resonate with alumni and supporters.

Build networks across the University and beyond. Use them to source and create compelling stories.

Use data feedback and analytics. Let them inform and improve communications performance.

Contribute to alumni engagement initiatives and campaigns. Align them with University goals.

About You

You will have demonstrable experience in marketing and communications. Particularly in digital content creation.

Combine creativity and innovation with excellent planning and organisation skills.

Be confident in building relationships and networks across diverse stakeholder groups.

Show excellent written and verbal communication skills. Also show attention to detail.

Be able to manage multiple priorities. Meet deadlines in a fast paced environment.

Have an interest in higher education alumni engagement or community building.
