Job Summary

We are seeking a Specialist Renal Dietitian to join our dynamic and supportive Renal Dietetic Team at Doncaster & Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

This is an excellent opportunity for either:

A Band 5 Dietitian looking to develop specialist expertise in renal dietetics, or

A Band 6 Dietitian wishing to further enhance their skills and knowledge in this rewarding clinical field.

You will work as part of a multidisciplinary renal team that values dietetic input and is committed to delivering high-quality, evidence-based care to patients across Doncaster and Bassetlaw.

Main Responsibilities

Provide a specialist dietetic service to patients requiring nutritional support, using evidence-based, patient-centred principles.

Independently assess, plan, implement, and evaluate dietetic interventions for a defined caseload of renal patients.

Offer ongoing advice and support to patients with complex clinical, psychological, and social needs, in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team (MDT).

Contribute to the development of patient education resources and deliver group or individual education sessions.

Participate in training and education for staff, students, and other health professionals.

Maintain accurate clinical records in line with professional and Trust standards.

Take an active role in clinical audit, research, and service development initiatives.

Ensure continuing professional development (CPD) through supervision, reflection, and attendance at relevant training.

Person Specification

Qualifications and Registration

Essential:

BSc (Hons) or Postgraduate Diploma in Dietetics

HCPC Registered Dietitian

Evidence of post-registration training and CPD

Desirable:

Postgraduate study in a relevant clinical or non-clinical area

Membership of specialist interest groups (e.g. BDA Renal Group)

Knowledge and Experience

Essential:

Sound knowledge of general dietetics and professional ethics

Minimum 12 months post-registration experience

Experience working with multidisciplinary teams

Desirable:

Experience in renal dietetics or long-term condition management

Involvement in audit or service development activities

Skills and Attributes

Essential:

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Strong organizational and time-management abilities

Ability to manage a busy caseload effectively

Motivated, adaptable, and able to work independently and as part of a team

Awareness of limitations and willingness to seek support when needed

Desirable:

Behaviour change and motivational interviewing skills

Additional Information

This role is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
