Overview

The School of Medicine, Medical Sciences and Nutrition (SMMSN) is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Education Manager to lead the strategic and operational management of education administration across the School.

Based at the Polwarth Building on the Foresterhill Health Campus, the postholder will work closely with the Director of Education, Registrar, and Head of School to oversee all administrative aspects of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, including Medicine, Dentistry, BSc, and Postgraduate Taught (PGT) programmes.

This is a senior leadership position at the heart of one of the University’s most complex and dynamic Schools, requiring strategic oversight, operational excellence, and exceptional leadership capability.

Key Responsibilities

The postholder will:

Lead and manage all aspects of education administration across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, including the MBChB.

Oversee the work of a professional services team, ensuring effective support for students, staff, and academic delivery.

Provide strategic leadership for education-related operations, policies, and systems.

Support the Director of Education and School leadership in the planning, delivery, and enhancement of all programmes.

Lead on quality assurance, accreditation processes, and curriculum development.

Foster effective international partnerships and collaborations relevant to education.

Ensure compliance with institutional and external regulatory frameworks.

Represent the School at internal and external meetings relating to education strategy, governance, and operational delivery.

Drive continuous improvement in administrative systems and processes.

Support the integration of medical and educational priorities, ensuring close alignment with NHS partners.

Person Specification

Essential Criteria:

Educated to degree level or equivalent experience.

Substantial experience in higher education administration, preferably within medical education.

Demonstrated ability to lead and manage teams, including performance development and resource planning.

Strong understanding of UK higher education structures, policies, and accreditation requirements.

Proven capacity to manage complex systems and deliver results in a large, multi-faceted organisation.

Excellent strategic thinking and ability to contribute to long-term planning and policy development.

Highly developed analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence, negotiate, and collaborate effectively at all levels.

Experience working with NHS procedures or in health-sector education environments.

Advanced IT proficiency, including experience in systems and process improvement.

Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills, with the ability to remain flexible and adaptable under pressure.

Additional Information

Salary:
The appointment will be made at an appropriate point on the Grade 8 scale (£59,139 – £66,537), negotiable based on qualifications and experience, in line with the University’s Pay Policy 2024
