About the Role

We are looking for a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join our Children’s Speech and Language Therapy Team in the London Borough of Elbridge.

This is an exciting opportunity for either an experienced Band 5 therapist seeking the next step or a Band 6 therapist looking to broaden their skills and expertise. You will work with children and young people with a variety of speech, language, communication, and feeding difficulties in pre-schools, schools, community clinics, and home settings.

You will deliver assessments, interventions, and training to support children and families, as well as upskill parents, carers, and education staff. There are also opportunities to develop specialist expertise, including work with children with Autism and AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication).

Main Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive assessments, diagnoses, and treatment for children with speech, language, and communication needs.

Plan, deliver, and evaluate therapy programmes in a range of community and educational settings.

Offer training and advice to parents, carers, teachers, and other professionals.

Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to ensure holistic support.

Contribute to service development and deputise for team managers when required.

Supervise junior staff and support their professional development.

Participate in supervision and reflective practice to enhance clinical decision-making.

About You

Essential requirements:

Recognized Speech and Language Therapy degree (or equivalent) with current HCPC registration.

Experience supporting children with varied speech, language, and communication needs.

Strong knowledge of formal and informal assessments and evidence-based interventions.

Excellent communication, observation, and interpersonal skills.

Desirable:

Experience working in community or educational settings.

Training in specialist areas such as Autism or AAC.

Membership of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCOT).
