About Us
The Department of Translational Neuroscience and Stroke at UCL is dedicated to advancing understanding of neurological diseases and developing innovative treatments to improve patient outcomes.
This role is part of a five-year, Medical Research Council-funded programme on Deep Network Modelling in Neuro-oncology, which aims to:
Develop robust AI and network models to predict individual patient outcomes.
Enable personalized treatment planning.
Reveal critical disease mechanisms for future therapies.
The project sits within the High-Dimensional Neurology Group, led by Dr James Ruffle, and brings together expertise in neuroscience, clinical neurology, and computational modelling.
The Role
We are seeking a Senior Research Fellow to join this pioneering initiative, working with unique clinical and imaging datasets to deliver real-world applications in brain tumour research.
You will:
Lead advanced modelling efforts, including natural language processing (NLP), multi-modal imaging, and high-dimensional data visualization.
Manage data governance and curation.
Publish high-impact scientific papers and lead major grant applications.
Contribute to the group’s strategic direction.
Mentor junior researchers and supervise students.
Collaborate across interdisciplinary academic and clinical teams.

About You
You will have:
A PhD in Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, Computational Neuroscience, or a related field, plus postdoctoral research experience.
A strong track record of first-author publications in peer-reviewed journals and/or experience securing research funding.
Expertise in machine learning, network neuroscience, or advanced computational modelling.
Proficiency in Python programming and handling large, high-dimensional datasets.
The ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.
A strong interest in applying computational methods to neuro-oncology and translating research into practice.
