About the Department
The Campus Life and Student Living department plays a central role in shaping the student experience. Our Reception Team is often the first point of contact for visitors, students, and staff, providing a professional and welcoming service that reflects the University’s values.
The Role
As a Receptionist, you will be part of the front-of-house team, ensuring a welcoming, safe, and professional environment for all visitors and staff.
Key responsibilities include:
Greeting visitors and directing them appropriately.
Managing reception switchboard enquiries, taking messages, and ensuring follow-up.
Maintaining a tidy and professional reception area.
Supporting visitor and key management systems.
Promoting a safe and secure environment, working closely with the Security Team.
Providing administrative support to the Head of Security and Reception Team Leader.
Acting as a first-aider and fire coordinator when required (training provided).
Offering flexibility to cover occasional evenings/weekends in line with business needs.
About You
We are looking for a professional, customer-focused individual with:
GCSE Maths and English (Grade C or above) or equivalent.
Experience in a busy customer service role with a track record of delivering excellent service.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and stay calm under pressure.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
Competency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
Attention to detail and strong literacy and numeracy skills.
Flexibility to work across different University sites when required.
Desirable: First Aid training (or willingness to undertake it).
