About the role
The UCL Energy Institute and the UCL Institute for Environmental Design and Engineering are seeking a Lecturer (Teaching) to strengthen our teaching on:
Financing the transition to net-zero carbon
Healthy buildings and their economic, social, and health impacts
Key responsibilities include:
Designing and delivering modules on sustainable finance, funding models, investment strategies, and economic instruments supporting net-zero and healthy buildings.
Teaching methods to evaluate costs, benefits, and health economics of indoor environmental strategies, linking financial analysis with well-being outcomes and societal impacts.
Developing new modules that connect finance, sustainability, and building performance.
Supporting undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, including the BSc/MEng Sustainable Built Environments, Energy and Resources.
Supervising dissertations, contributing to curriculum development, and ensuring high-quality teaching delivery.
This role starts as soon as possible and is funded until 31 July 2026, with the possibility of extension..
About You
We are looking for someone with:
A PhD (or equivalent experience) in finance, sustainability, or a relevant field.
Strong expertise in finance with clear application to the built environment.
Experience in teaching and/or research on sustainable finance, building design, retrofit, or development.
Ability to integrate financial models and real-world applications into teaching.
Skills to explain complex financial concepts in the context of sustainability, energy, health, and buildings.
Commitment to delivering inclusive, engaging, and high-quality teaching to a diverse student community.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with enthusiasm for interdisciplinary work.
