This role offers an exciting opportunity to join the Anatomy Laboratory team, supporting teaching and training that is vital to the education of UCL medical and life sciences students.

The Role

As an Anatomy Laboratory Technician, you will provide essential technical and administrative support to ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of the Anatomy Laboratory.

Key responsibilities include:

Supporting laboratory teaching by setting up practical class materials and surgical workshop resources.

Assisting with the receipt, preservation, and disposal of cadaveric material.

Maintaining laboratory cleanliness, safety, and security, ensuring only authorised students and staff access the facilities.

Completing and monitoring audit documentation in line with Human Tissue Authority (HTA) and Health & Safety requirements.

Maintaining accurate records, registers, and protocol paperwork.

Assisting with finance-related tasks linked to laboratory operations.

Conducting regular audits of human material used for teaching.

Caring for and maintaining teaching equipment and materials.

You will acquire specialist skills and training as part of the role and play a crucial part in supporting the laboratory’s core teaching activities.

About You

We are looking for someone who is reliable, accurate, and able to work carefully in a sensitive environment.

Essential requirements:

GCSEs (including Maths and English) or equivalent qualifications.

A background in biological sciences.

Experience working in an anatomy laboratory or mortuary setting.

Ability to carry out routine, repetitive tasks with accuracy and consistency.

Willingness and ability to handle cadavers with professionalism.

Good computer literacy, including MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, Teams).
