About the Role
Brighton and Sussex Medical School (BSMS) is seeking an Anatomy Facility Manager to lead the delivery of high-quality technical services in anatomy. You will oversee the day-to-day running of the Anatomy Facility, supporting teaching for over 1,000 students each year and contributing to research activities.
The role involves managing specialist teaching and research areas, ensuring compliance with legislation and University policies, and maintaining a safe, efficient, and supportive environment for staff, students, and visitors. You will line-manage the technical team, implementing training and development plans, and encourage continuous improvement across services.
You will also help shape the future of the facility by identifying opportunities to expand activities, generate income, and develop partnerships with external organizations. Key responsibilities include maintaining safety compliance, updating documentation, preparing standard operating procedures and risk assessments, delivering training, and overseeing equipment maintenance.
Acting as the link between the facility and academic, technical, and administrative colleagues, you will ensure smooth, professional service delivery in this specialist academic setting.
About You
Educated to degree level (Level 6) or equivalent, with substantial practical knowledge of anatomy facilities and techniques.
Strong leadership and management skills, with experience supervising small teams.
Excellent communication skills, able to explain complex policies and procedures clearly to different audiences.
Well-organized, with proven planning, project management, and delegation abilities.
Confident decision-maker with strong problem-solving skills.
Skilled at building positive relationships and influencing others to achieve shared goals.
Sound understanding of University systems, legislation, and health and safety regulations, including the Human Tissue Act (2004).
Competent in data handling and administration.
Desirable experience includes:
Postgraduate qualifications.
Knowledge of higher education environments.
Understanding of financial regulations and income-generation strategies.
