About the Role

We are seeking a highly organised, proactive, and detail-oriented individual to oversee the finance and administration of the Sussex Health Outcomes Research and Education in Cancer (SHORE-C) unit. Working closely with the Director and Deputy Director, you will play a key role in managing research grants, supporting applications for new funding, and delivering high-quality administrative support to senior researchers.

You will also contribute to the preparation and coordination of SHORE-C training courses for healthcare professionals and conferences, ensuring smooth delivery of events and effective communication with partners.

Key Responsibilities

Manage SHORE-C’s research grants and financial processes.

Provide comprehensive administrative support to the Director, Deputy Director, and Postdoctoral Research Fellows.

Assist with the preparation of new research grant applications to charities, industry, and national/international funders.

Support the organization and delivery of SHORE-C training courses and conferences.

Liaise effectively with academic staff, industry representatives, healthcare professionals, and patients.

Make independent decisions and manage priorities to meet deadlines in a busy research environment.

About You

Proven experience in administration within a busy office setting.

Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to priorities and meet tight deadlines.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, confident in dealing with individuals at all levels, including external partners.

Ability to work independently and use initiative while contributing to a collaborative team environment.

Experience in financial administration and/or research grant management is desirable.
