The Faculty
The post is based in the School of Applied Social Sciences, within the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences. The Faculty also houses the Schools of Pharmacy, Allied Health Sciences, and Nursing and Midwifery. Together, these Schools deliver world-class teaching, research, and professional training across health and social care disciplines.
The Role
As Lecturer in Social Work, you will:
Contribute to teaching, learning, assessment, and research in Social Work.
Plan and deliver teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Undertake module leadership and programme responsibilities as required.
Provide student support through tutorials, placement visits, and dissertation supervision.
Work collaboratively across the School, Faculty, and University, as well as with external stakeholders.
Support curriculum development to ensure provision reflects current practice and policy.
The role will primarily focus on undergraduate and postgraduate social work programmes, with close engagement with professional and community partners.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will:
Hold a postgraduate qualification in Social Work.
Be a registered social worker with Social Work England.
Have significant practice experience in social work, with the ability to teach at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Demonstrate knowledge of contemporary issues in social work and the wider social care context.
Show experience of working in partnership with health and social care organizations.
Have the ability to contribute to teaching and research within the discipline.
Desirable: We are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in Adult Social Work (Law).
