About the role
Brighton and Sussex Medical School (BSMS) is seeking an experienced Anatomy Facility Manager to oversee the delivery of high-quality technical services in anatomy. You will lead the daily operations of the Anatomy Facility, supporting the teaching of over 1,000 students each year, as well as research activities.
This role combines operational leadership with strategic development. You will ensure compliance with legislation and University policies, manage health and safety standards, and provide expert technical guidance. You will also line-manage and develop a small technical team, ensuring training and professional growth.
A key responsibility is to expand the facility’s activities, including income generation, industry partnerships, and enhancing resources. You will oversee equipment maintenance, risk assessments, documentation, and contribute to health and safety committees. Working closely with academic, technical, and administrative colleagues, you will act as the central link between the facility and its stakeholders.
About you
Educated to degree level (Level 6) or equivalent, with substantial knowledge of anatomical facilities and techniques.
Strong management experience, including leading and developing small teams.
Excellent communication skills, able to explain policies and procedures to diverse audiences.
Proven ability in planning, organization, and project management, with the confidence to delegate and priorities.
Skilled in building collaborative relationships and influencing outcomes.
Knowledge of health and safety regulations (including the Human Tissue Act 2004) and university systems.
Experience in data handling and compliance management.
Desirable: Postgraduate qualification, knowledge of higher education systems, financial regulations, and experience in strategic income generation.
