Role Overview

The University of Bristol is offering a digital-themed NIHR Academic Clinical Lecturer (ACL) post for trainees in haematology or respiratory medicine. This post provides a unique opportunity for post-doctoral academic training, enabling the successful candidate to develop their career as an independent researcher and educator within a supportive, thriving environment.

The lectureship offers up to four years of post-doctoral training or until the Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) is achieved, depending on previous academic experience and career trajectory. The post is available on a full-time or part-time basis.

Key Responsibilities

Undertake post-doctoral academic training in hematology or respiratory medicine.

Develop research skills and begin to establish an independent research program.

Contribute to teaching and education within the Bristol Medical School.

Participate in clinical practice aligned with specialty training requirements.

Prepare for and progress toward a postdoctoral or clinician scientist award.

Candidate Requirements

Completion of core training or eligibility for higher specialist training (ST3 or above) in the UK.

MD, PhD, or equivalent research doctorate in a relevant field.

Demonstrated outstanding potential for a career in academic medicine.

Commitment to both research and clinical excellence.

Contract and Work Pattern

Annually renewable contract, up to four years or until CCT, whichever occurs first.

Full-time preferred; part-time considered.

Standard 40-hour work week.
