Role Overview

Ark All Saints Academy is seeking an experienced and dynamic Head of Department for Religious Education to lead and manage the delivery of an outstanding RE curriculum. This role involves fostering the highest levels of student progress and attainment, leading a professional team of subject teachers, and promoting excellent teaching and learning within a nurturing and rigorous school environment.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, a passion for Religious Education, and a commitment to developing both students and staff within a positive school culture.

Key Responsibilities

Lead, develop, and line-manage the department’s staff, including teachers and support staff, as well as supervising NQTs and ITT students.

Provide professional development opportunities, CPD, and inset training for department staff.

Monitor, evaluate, and continuously improve planning, teaching, and assessment across the department.

Manage departmental budgets and resources efficiently.

Lead behavior management within the department, ensuring strong routines and consistent application of the academy’s policies.

Liaise with tutors, parents, and careers to support students’ academic and personal development.

Promote a culture of high expectations, academic excellence, and inclusivity in line with the academy’s values.
