About the Role
GE Aerospace Wales is seeking a Support Engineer to join its Engineering team. This role will involve both office-based work and significant time on the shop floor, providing technical support to maintenance technicians and contributing to longer-term engineering projects. The position offers exposure to GE90 and CFM56 product lines and requires close collaboration with internal and external stakeholders across operations, planning, quality, sourcing, and EH&S.
This role includes shift work, covering days, afternoons, and 1 in 3 weekends.
Key Responsibilities
Provide day-to-day technical support to shop floor maintenance technicians.
Prepare and review technical documentation to support engine and component maintenance.
Develop local policies to meet regulatory and standard operating requirements.
Review and interpret engine manuals, OEM data, and customer publications.
Contribute to engineering projects aimed at reducing maintenance costs and improving turnaround times using lean principles.
Support the digitization and improvement of engineering processes.
Qualifications
Essential:
Degree (MEng, BEng, MSc, or BSc) in Mechanical, Aerospace, or a related engineering discipline.
Relevant engineering experience (internships/trainee experience will be considered).
Desirable:
Strong ability to write clear and accurate technical documentation.
Skilled at interpreting OEM publications (engine manuals, Service Bulletins, etc.).
Effective team player with cross-functional collaboration skills.
Strong oral and written communication abilities.
Capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills.
Ability to influence and work effectively with stakeholders.
