About the Role

We are seeking qualified and experienced teachers to join our Therapy Services Department at Arnold Lodge. You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team including occupational therapists, support workers, sports and fitness staff, and peer support workers, providing education to adult patients as part of their recovery and rehabilitation.

Tutors are needed to deliver Math, English, and ICT. Each subject requires approximately one day (7 hours) of teaching per week. You will design and deliver engaging lessons for small groups and individuals, adapting approaches to meet the needs of learners with a wide range of abilities and learning styles.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver teaching in Maths, English, and ICT (up to Level 2, including functional skills).

Support learners with additional needs (e.g., ADHD, dyslexia, ESOL).

Prepare students for examinations in core subjects.

Conduct initial, diagnostic, formative, and summative assessments.

Create and implement individual learning plans, lesson plans, and schemes of work.

Produce reports on learners’ progress and provide data/statistics as required.

Work collaboratively with therapy services and ward staff to plan effective delivery.

About You

Essential Requirements:

GCSE English and Maths (Grade C/4 or above).

A recognized teaching qualification at Level 4 (CTLLS, CET, Cert Ed) or Level 5 (DTLLS, DET) or equivalent.

Relevant subject qualification (e.g., ICDL/ICDL Advanced for ICT, ESOL for English).

At least 1 year of experience teaching core numeracy and literacy to Level 2.

At least 1 year of experience teaching ICT skills or ESOL (if applying for those subjects).

Experience creating lesson plans, schemes of work, and learning plans.

Strong organizational, assessment, and communication skills.

Desirable Requirements:

Assessor’s Award or training in teaching students with dyslexia.

Experience working in secure environments (e.g., prison, forensic unit).

Experience teaching adults with mental health issues, learning disabilities, or ESOL needs.

Experience supervising teaching assistants or support staff.

The successful candidate must complete a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check (cost deducted from salary: £26.40 standard or £54.40 enhanced).
