About the Role

The University of Oxford is seeking an experienced and strategic fundraiser to take on the newly created role of Head of Development for the School of Geography and the Environment (SoGE).

As a senior member of the Social Sciences Development team within the Development and Alumni Engagement (DAE) office, you will:

Lead fundraising for SoGE.

Build and manage a small dedicated team for Geography.

Develop and implement a fundraising strategy that advances the School’s priorities and grows philanthropic income.

This role offers the opportunity to work closely with world-leading academics who are addressing critical issues such as environmental change, technology, geopolitics, and socio-economic challenges.

About the School

The School of Geography and the Environment is internationally recognized for its excellence in research and teaching. It includes:

The core academic department.

Three leading research centers: the Environmental Change Institute (ECI), the Transport Studies Unit (TSU), and the Smith School of Enterprise and the Environment (SSEE).

Collaborations with geographers across the wider University.

Skilled at building trust and long-lasting relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.

A leader with experience managing staff and motivating teams.

Knowledgeable and passionate about issues linked to geography, the environment, and social sciences.

Experience in Higher Education or the charitable sector is desirable. Above all, you will share Oxford’s mission and be motivated to make a lasting impact through philanthropy.
