About the Role

We are seeking an Engineering Workshop Technician to support the Faculty of Engineering. This role is central to our teaching and research activities, providing technical expertise in the workshop and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.

Key responsibilities include:

Supporting undergraduate teaching by supervising practical sessions and guiding students in the safe use of workshop equipment.

Manufacturing specialized components to support teaching and research projects.

Maintaining, repairing, and ensuring the safe operation of workshop machinery and tools.

Playing an active role in hands-on student education and contributing to a safe and efficient workshop environment.

About You

We are welcoming applications through two entry routes:

1. Experienced Technician Route

Advanced City & Guilds or BTEC Higher National Certificate/Diploma in Engineering.

Completion of a recognized engineering apprenticeship.

Experience using a full range of conventional and CNC machine tools.

Strong understanding of Health & Safety regulations in a workshop environment.

2. Degree Apprenticeship Route

An alternative pathway for individuals interested in combining hands-on technical training with study.

This route allows you to work as a technician while studying for a BEng in Mechanical Engineering through a Degree Apprenticeship.

Ideal for those looking to build a career in engineering while gaining an accredited university qualification.
