About the Role

We are seeking an experienced clinical and managerial lead to join our Wellbeing Services, which include Wellbeing, Therapeutic, Residential Life, and Chaplaincy teams. This year, we are moving into a new Wellbeing building alongside our campus GP practice.

We are particularly looking for a mental health practitioner with proven experience managing practitioners and strong administrative skills within an acute mental health or therapeutic setting.

Wellbeing Services currently support over 1,800 students annually, offering psychodynamic therapy, CBT, psychoeducative workshops, proactive outreach, and living solutions. In this role, you will:

Manage caseload allocation and support staff with complex and critical cases.

Collaborate with colleagues across Wellbeing Services, the NHS, Disability Support, and Advice & Guidance teams.

Contribute to proactive initiatives and the university’s wider mental health strategy.

Review and improve systems, processes, and procedures to ensure efficiency and effective risk management.

You will be part of a leadership group that includes Senior Wellbeing Managers, Senior Mental Health Nurses, Residential Life Managers, and the Lead Chaplain, reporting to the Head of Service.

About You

You will be a qualified, accredited, and experienced therapist, social worker, mental health nurse, or other mental health professional. Key requirements include:

Strong leadership and experience managing therapists, trainees, locums, and wellbeing practitioners.

Ability to hold a small caseload if needed for professional accreditation.

Excellent administrative, organisational, and IT skills, particularly in case management systems.

Strong judgement, risk awareness, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.

Outstanding interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.

A professional, sensitive, and diplomatic approach to managing complex situations.
