About the Role

Slough Borough Council is recruiting a Public Health Lead – Health Intelligence and Insight to play a senior role in shaping local health strategy. This position will lead the delivery of intelligence programmes (including the Joint Strategic Needs Assessment – JSNA), oversee high-quality public health analysis, and provide the evidence base to drive improvements in health outcomes and reduce inequalities across Slough.

This is a leadership role with both strategic influence and line management responsibility, requiring strong technical expertise in public health data and a proven ability to work collaboratively across the health and care system.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the operational delivery of health intelligence programmes such as the JSNA.

Transform and improve public health intelligence products and outputs.

Provide advanced statistical analysis and interpretation to support strategy, commissioning, and policy.

Ensure robust procedures for data collection, quality, analysis, and visualization.

Present complex epidemiological and statistical information to diverse audiences.

Deliver statutory needs assessments and monitor commissioned service performance.

Act as the senior advisor on health data, mentoring and supporting colleagues and partners.

Collaborate with council leaders, NHS partners, and elected members to shape strategic planning.

Contribute to the development of digital tools and dashboards (e.g., Power BI, GIS).

Manage and supervise analysts and officers within the Public Health Intelligence team.

About You

We are seeking an experienced public health professional with:

Significant leadership experience in health intelligence and public health strategy.

Strong technical expertise in data analysis, epidemiology, and health intelligence systems.

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex data clearly to a range of stakeholders.

Experience leading teams and building strong cross-sector partnerships.

A passion for reducing health inequalities and improving population outcomes.
