About the Role

Aston University’s Energy & Bioproducts Research Institute (EBRI) is recruiting a Postdoctoral Research Associate (PDRA) to support the UK–Saudi Waste2Energy project, a high-profile initiative funded by the Gulf Strategy Fund. The project promotes collaboration between the UK and Saudi Arabia in sustainable waste management, biochar technology, and behavioral change policy.

This role combines research, project management, and international engagement. The successful candidate will:

Lead the development of three bilingual market reports (biochar, plastics, and municipal solid waste).

Coordinate two major events in Riyadh: a UK–Saudi showcase and a Behavioral Change Policy Forum.

Organize a UK biochar technology exchange visit for Saudi partners.

Manage project monitoring, reporting, and stakeholder engagement.

Produce high-quality communications that highlight UK expertise.

Candidate Requirements

Essential:

PhD (or near completion) in environmental/chemical engineering, sustainability, policy studies, or circular economy.

Proven experience in producing high-quality outputs such as market or policy reports.

Strong project management skills, ideally within multi-partner or international projects.

Excellent organizational and communication skills.

Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.

Willingness to travel internationally.

Desirable:

Knowledge of waste valorisation or biochar technology.

Experience with SME or B2B engagement.

Familiarity with UK–Gulf collaborations.

Arabic language skills or experience producing bilingual outputs.
