About Us
The UCL Centre for Advanced Research Computing (ARC) is UCL’s hub for digital research infrastructure and innovation. ARC brings together supercomputing, data platforms, advanced software, and expert professionals to make computational science and digital scholarship possible.
ARC is both a professional services department providing reliable and secure infrastructure for UCL research groups, and a research and innovation lab, partnering with academics to apply advanced computational and data-intensive methods across disciplines.

About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Research Infrastructure Developer to design, build, and automate research computing services and platforms in collaboration with UCL researchers.
In this role, you will:
Develop and maintain computational software and infrastructure supporting UCL research
Work on both large-scale persistent services and bespoke solutions tailored to individual research groups
Contribute to building platforms in cloud environments, with opportunities to deepen your expertise
Implement automation, monitoring, and support for high-performance and data-intensive computing environments
This position offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge infrastructure supporting some of the world’s most innovative research.
About You
You will bring experience in building, deploying, and supporting infrastructure or applications in either research or industrial settings.
Essential skills include:
Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
Virtualization and container orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker)
Highly desirable experience:
Configuration management at scale
GPU technology in virtualized environments
We are especially interested in candidates with expertise in at least two of the following areas:
Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
Cloud platforms
Kubernetes & containers
CI/CD & GitOps
GPU computing
Data engineering
MLOps
You should also be a collaborative problem-solver, with a keen interest in developing and scaling advanced research infrastructure.
