About the Role

The University of Oxford is seeking a Head of Development to lead fundraising for its world-renowned School of Geography and the Environment (SoGE). This newly created senior role sits within the Social Sciences Development team in Development and Alumni Engagement (DAE).

The postholder will establish and lead a small development team for Geography, design and implement a fundraising strategy, and grow philanthropic support aligned with the School’s priorities. Working closely with SoGE and DAE leadership, you will play a key role in building long-term relationships that advance Oxford’s global impact in geography and environmental research.

About You

This role is ideal for an experienced major gifts fundraiser seeking a senior position that combines high-level fundraising with team leadership.

You should bring:

A strong track record in securing major philanthropic support.

Experience managing relationships with diverse stakeholders.

Excellent communication and strategic thinking skills.

A collaborative, adaptable approach to fundraising.

Knowledge of, and interest in, issues central to SoGE and the social sciences.

Experience in Higher Education or the charitable sector, as well as experience in staff management, is desirable.
