About the Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic and capable Research Fellow in Linguistics to contribute to an AHRC-DFG funded project examining the linguistic practices of coal mining communities in the East Midlands (UK) and the Ruhr Area (Germany).
This research will work with former miners and their families to explore and preserve a linguistic heritage that is at risk of disappearing.
Key responsibilities include:
Planning and conducting fieldwork with mining communities and mining museums.
Assisting with the development of interviews, literature reviews, and database searches.
Working closely with the UK and German research teams to support research outputs, such as:
Peer-reviewed articles.
An exhibition.
Linguistic landscape data.
Applicants should have knowledge of sociolinguistics and be able to speak German to a high standard in order to collaborate with German project partners.
