We are now seeking an outstanding leader to join us as Director of Human Resources (HRD).

The Role

The new HRD will play a central role in advancing Middlesex University’s mission of transforming lives through education. Joining at a pivotal moment, you will lead the delivery and refinement of our new People Strategy, ensuring it supports the University’s 2031 Strategy and long-term financial sustainability.

Key responsibilities include:

Leading and developing a high-performing HR team.

Driving workforce planning, reorganisation programmes, and EDI (Equality, Diversity & Inclusion) initiatives.

Supporting organisational change while preserving Middlesex’s collaborative and student-focused culture.

Advising the Vice-Chancellor, COO, and University Executive Team on HR-related decision-making, including restructuring and organisational development.

Ensuring effective case management, leading to constructive and positive outcomes.

The HRD will report to the Chief Operating Officer and will be a regular attendee at University Executive Team meetings, contributing directly to strategic planning and delivery.

Candidate Profile

We are seeking a leader who can demonstrate:

Significant senior-level HR leadership experience in a large and complex organization.

A proven track record in handling casework with successful outcomes.

Expertise in organisational change, workforce planning, and development.

Strong team-building and leadership skills.

A positive, compassionate, and values-driven approach, acting as an ambassador for Middlesex University.
